10 movies you ALWAYS watch whenever they’re on TV

Whether it’s 11pm at night and you have an early start the next day, or you have a mega important paper due that you haven’t even started, NOTHING will stop you from watching these films whenever you see they’re on TV. Even though you have the DVD. Even though you could watch it without adverts. Doesn’t matter. You gotta watch it, and you gotta watch it now.

1. Despicable Me

DM

Why do we watch it?

Big scary villain adopts three adorable girls to do evil things, but the only crime they commit is stealing his heart. The minions are hilarious little yellow sidekicks that everyone needs and they basically make the movie 10x better. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

2. Coraline

Screen Shot 2017-11-06 at 15.01.43

Why do we watch it?

Girl who feels ignored and unsatisfied with her home life escapes through a magic portal into an alternative (and mega scary) dimension where her other mother SEEMS to be da bomb, but is actually trying to steal her eyeballs. And soul. Or something like that. Coraline is a Henry Selick super spooky masterpiece that we can’t get enough of.

3. Mean Girls

Why do we watch it?

Because it’s so fetch and super grool. Mean Girls is the ultimate quotable film and basically has Mariah Carey asking us why we’re so obsessed. Girl moves in from Africa (but, like, if she’s from Africa, why is she white?) and infiltrates the hottest girl group at school to take down the mean queen B… but becomes one herself. We learn that everyone is equal, no matter what you look like. #Inspirational

4. White Chicks

white chicks

Why do we watch it?

If you haven’t seen White Chicks, you need to reevaluate your life choices. Two cops are meant to be protecting two rich (and ultra annoying) girls from being kidnapped, and end up basically kidnapping their entire lives. It mocks everything we hate, and who doesn’t love hating things as a community?

5. Elf

elf

Why do we watch it?

An elf realises he’s actually human and leaves the North Pole to search for his father in America. If anything, all he does is reveal how moody and depressing everyone in the world actually is. He trusts everyone and is so happy it might make you feel kinda sick. But we love it.

6. Airplane!

air

Why do we watch it?

It’s funny literally every time. A stalker stalks a hot girl who is no longer interested him onto a plane where she’s working as an airhostess, which is fine because this movie was released in 1980. Pretty much everyone gets sick, apart from the ex-pilot stalker, who now has to land the plane safely. WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

7. Home Alone

home alone

Why do we watch it?

Parents with WAY too many kids leave one behind, and when some really awful robbers try to invade his house, more slapstick ensues than you can hit with a ladder. Home Alone is witty, hilarious, and heartwarming, all at the same time. Also, it’s always fun to see the before to Macaulay Culkin’s after… (who ISN’T dead, btw.)

8. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2

Screen Shot 2017-11-06 at 15.24.18

Why do we watch it?

Because it’s one of those rare situations where the sequel is better than the first movie. After his insanely good-in-theory-but-not-in-practice invention that changes rain to food explodes and covers everywhere with delicious goodness (the opposite of a problem) they all evacuate, and Flint is hired by a bunch of evil scientists. They send Flint back to destroy his invention, but that doesn’t fly with anyone because the food is all super cute now and has more personality than most of us.

9. Die Hard

eye

Why do we watch it?

While visiting his wife at a Christmas eve party, everything goes tits up when a group of terrorists try to take over the high rise. John McClane is all “Not on my watch!” and whoops some terrorist ass, saving Christmas. Kinda. He obviously doesn’t do that good a job, since there are about 17 sequels.

10. Love Actually

Screen Shot 2017-11-06 at 15.27.55

Why do we watch it?

Basically every time you watch it you love someone new and hate someone new. It changes with you. Nine stories which all intertwine show us why love is hard and why we should all just have pets instead of fall in love. It’s an emotional rollercoaster which might be just a little bit TOO relatable? …
